Icardi: “I have to love the public with goals, not with words”

wp-image--1162421442Mauro Icardi spoke about Messi, the World Cup and Argentina national team. Here is what he had to say:

“It’s weird, but it’s good that Lionel Messi takes a break even if people do not see it well.”

“We talked and tried in training, but I lacked time to find a perfect partnership with him. He is the number one in the world, ”

“I do not feel important because the truth that I still did not show anything to receive that respect or be important. To be important, I need to score goals, earn the respect of the group and that’s why I am here today. I have to love the public with goals, not with words. At Inter, people love me because I score and want to do the same for Argentina.

“I do not ask myself why I could not make it to the World Cup, there is a decision maker who decided that I had to be outside. He passed”.

“I am available now and I want to achieve great things with Argentina.”

Menotti: “If Messi were a violinist, he would have to be surrounded by the best musicians who do not go out of way”

Argentina-v-Croatia-Group-D-2018-FIFA-World-Cup-Russia1978 World cup-winning former Argentina coach Luis Menotti spoke about Messi and reconstruction of Argentina team. Here is what he had tp say:

“We are starting from false places. Messi already has a place insured in the Argentine National Team for being who he is. His absence can help the recomposition of the selections project.”

“We must re-educate the history of Argentine football. Because if we do not, we end up in that the coaches end up being complicit in driving models, which belong more to the world of business and media pressures than to responding to the needs of Argentine football. Argentine soccer is mortally wounded and times are getting shorter. You live this moment of crisis with a degraded face. It has suffered a frightful brutality in its decomposition. He has endured scenarios of discredit that must be recovered. There is a faction of cheats of liars, with faces of big business that has taken refuge in the servile modes of the media world to hide its trap.”

“But there is a minority that we want to reconstruct this cultural fact, and we are only going to do it from memory. We have to examine our cultural heritage, our soccer roots. Recompose them to be able to transmit them and rethink them in actuality. Our rich history was bastardized and damaged by the mercenary eye. The time has come to change. There is an intension of this new driving with Claudio Tapia at the head of the AFA to reverse it, to change. In the first thing that accompanied this leadership is not to try to resolve 48 hours after the elimination of the world. But there is a lack of debate about which project is being pursued and with whom. Without memory there is no solution.”

“We do not belong to a country where football appeared ten years ago. We were very important in the history of football. We can only save our football if we preserve its past. There has to be a sincere commitment to a starting point, perhaps the formation of a Committee of coaches with past in the selection and former players, who can transmit their teachings, the essence of the game”

“This debate must be a vehicle of encounter with football of belonging. The dynamic of events that has tragically turned its course is an area of extreme gravity. We must have memory, collect the inheritance and reconstruct for evolution. There must be a key to hope. A signal to take football out of intensive care. A progress does not assist in annihilating yesterday as some messengers of modernity insist on making them believe. Or we will have to give up the illusion that Argentine football, which was a fascinating game and a social phenomenon unmatched in the country, is no longer so. Although they continue appearing great players.”

“José Saramago, the Portuguese writer, novel literary prize, said that “not having memory is forgetting ourselves”. You can not think of a change of this present and prepared for a future without going over the past. It is impossible. Messi is the present but his gene belongs to the history of Argentine football, which also had exponents such as Sívori, Di Stefano, Kempes, Maradona. What it is about is to recover the idea and create a place where Messi can shine. If he were a violinist, he would have to be surrounded by the best musicians who do not go out of their way. If persecution is success, we are condemned. The debate should not be lost in the days when Messi will be in the national team or not. If we do not know what we are looking for, how do we find it? Nobody guarantees a world champion.”

MARADONA BLASTS AFA AND SHOWS SUPPORT FOR MESSI

wp-image-1592423024Argentina legend Diego Maradona spoke about Messi, Sampaoli and AFA. Here is what he had to say:

“I’d give Messi room to breathe, a break. I’d tell him to play in Europe, not to travel any more and not let them use him. He doesn’t need to go and play a friendly just because the team wins more often with him in it.”

“If you’re tightening your belt at home and don’t eat bread but then throw a party for 15 people with a special cake for your daughter, it doesn’t make sense. The AFA said they didn’t have money but then they offer Sampaoli a 20 million contract. It doesn’t deserve to be analysed.”

CRESPO: “Icardi is the Perfect Striker to Pair with Messi and to take Argentina to World Cup 2018”

Argentina legend Hernan Crespo spoke about his admiration for Mauro Icardi and how he can be a key figure for Argentina. Here is what Crespo had to say:

“I’ve been tracking Icardi since he first arrived in Italy. Every year, albeit surrounded by difficulties, he has always made steps forward. That’s a sign that we are talking about an intelligent guy. Now he seems mature for the big step up.

“Let’s not forget that since he’s been playing in Serie A, the only time he failed to reach double figures of goals was in 2013-14. He knows where the goal is.

“Icardi is a complete centre-forward. He can score goals with his right foot, left foot, or his head. In the box he moves like he owns it: darting runs, dummies, sudden changes of pace. All of it is aimed towards creating a goal. He has incredible qualities and on top of that a powerful physique.”

“Let’s be clear, he did the best he could when the team around him had problems. Before he used to stand there in the penalty area waiting for the ball, and when it did arrive, he’d score. Now he has also learned to move and help the team. He dictates the pass outside the box, spreads to the right and left, opening up channels for his teammates. He is becoming a real team player.

“Icardi is the perfect striker to pair with Messi. There used to be controversy around him, but I never agreed with that. Now it looks as if everyone is in agreement: Icardi is the right centre-forward to take us to the World Cup,”

Meet Tottenham’s Juan Foyth, One of Argentina’s Biggest Prospects

:

“We don’t have that many defenders of that level that young right now in Argentina and Juan is certainly one of the big prospects in that (defensive) area.”

Renowned sports writer Gonzalo Bonadeo spoke about Tottenham’s new signing, young Argentine defender Juan Foyth. Here is what he had to say:

“First of all, it’s a very good deal for Spurs. Juan is a young guy, very talented and although he has no more than one season playing for the first team in Estudiantes, he’s a very skilful, smart, relaxed and confident defender.

“As a youngster, he was mainly a midfielder and when he was 15, a coach in the junior divisions at Estudiantes suggested he played in defence and this was his place. He’s done a very good job since then. He’s confident on the ball and that’s ideal with the way Mauricio Pochettino will want him to play, with the ball played out from the goalkeeper and defenders who are skilful. He has finesse and speed but he’s also very strong.

“We all have high hopes for Juan in Argentina. I’m not going to say he’ll play straight away in the next World Cup next year – we don’t even know if Argentina will qualify! But I am confident he will be in a couple of national teams soon because everything is new in the national team, not only in the main (first) team, but also the Under-20s. The coaches from the Under-20 team work closely with the main trainer, Sampaoli.

“We don’t have that many defenders of that level that young right now in Argentina and Juan is certainly one of the big prospects in that (defensive) area. We’re all excited to watch him play in the Premier League and I think he will be good news for Spurs.”

Higuain’s Childhood friend Fernandez: “Higuain’s Goals are best Answers for the Critics but even I had a laugh at Weight Jokes”

Higuain’s childhood friend Fernandez spoke about Higuain. Here is what he said:

“Higuain is a gentle guy, genuine and sincere”

“Yes, I did have a laugh at his weight jokes. It happened in Naples too where he responded to critics by scoring 36 goals”

“The 3 Higuain brothers never played all together, otherwise, they argued”

“He never lost his head even after missing chances. It’s normal for a striker”

“Higuain is among world’s top 3 strikers. Now that he has started scoring at Juventus, he won’t stop”

POCHETTINO: “Owen Dived for Penalty in 2002 World Cup though I did not even Touch him”

Former Argentina defender and current coach of English club Tottenham Mauricio Pochettino recalled the dive of England striker Michael Owen in  2002 World Cup that earned a penalty and proved decisive in the match and tournament as hot favourite Argentina were knocked out of Group stage. Here is what Pochettino had to  say  about it:

“It was 15 years ago when Owen dived. Don’t believe that English football is always fair because Owen jumped like he was in a swimming pool. Come on! I didn’t touch him. I promise you. It’s true.”

“Today football is more global. It’s more European football. Now we have the influence of the Latin people that try to cheat always. Maybe you were more pure 20, 25, 30 years ago, now you are like us”

“In Argentina, yes — the people sometimes practise that. It’s true. But many years ago. Now I don’t know. But when I was a player always it was part of training to try to cheat.”

“At Newell’s, many, many years ago, it was part of practice. Now, of course I don’t like. I don’t like that.”
