Argentina Right back Gonzalo Montiel joins Sevilla FC from River Plate

Argentina Right back Gonzalo Montiel has joined la liga club Sevilla FC from River Plate. He has risen to the ranks from River Plate youth academy and already had Copa Libertadores success with the Argentine club. The departure from River was tough as the 24-year old Argentina international had a deep love for River.

Montiel recently captured the interest by winning the Copa America and he showcased his talent with a standout performance against Brazil even with the bleeding foot. Argentina have been seaching for a proper right back since Pablo Zabaleta. He is expected to be a permanent feature for Argentina in the Right back position for many more years if the growth as a player continues.

He becomes the 5th Argentine player in current Sevilla squad alongside Erik Lamela, Lucas Ocampos, Marcos Acuña and Papu Gomez. At Sevilla, he would be able to connect again with his Argentine compatriot and full back partner in the national team. The journey of Montiel in Europe begins and the performance in the Spanish club this season would determine his international career path on the road to World cup 2022.
